WFA...or...WooFAh

When we got back from San Diego, we only had one day to turn things around and go right into a WFA, (Wilderness First Aid, we say woofah) class for the Explore students at Camp. We teach this course through WMA, (Wilderness Medical Associates, no, we don't say wooma). Right now, we are still assistant instructors, so we bring in a Lead to help us teach. This class went all day Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. The students did great and really caught on.

I enjoy having the opportunity to be involved and do something outside of the house occasionally. It was fairly crazy going in and out to shuttle the boys to and from school, babysitters, Camp, etc., but definitely worth it.

I'm not a great public speaker and when I'm teaching or lecturing, I get a bit nervous, and often the words don't come out the way they would have been intended if I'd slowed down a little. Most classes, we leave with some, "Cori quote" that Zach has to forever tease me about. They're usually mixed up phrases or incomplete thoughts that come out completely inappropriate. So imagine my delight when this time it wasn't me!!! No, not Zach either, unfortunately. But someone else was describing a pulse they were monitoring on a patient. The person said, "Then the pulse became erotic." Trying very hard to keep composure, no one was able to correct the word to erratic. It reminded me of when I told my dad something looked like octopus testicles! He, however, did not keep his composure and it took him a while of laughing before he told me I should have said tentacles!
Live and learn...or not...I don't seem to.

A bonding moment captured.

(Just so you know, I've been helping out with the new EMT class in town with our local ambulance service and though I've come very close, I haven't actually made any big embarrassing comments...yet. Either that, or no one told me about it. I'm pretty scary you know.)
